Phnom Penh  To get to Ken and Sokha’s house from the airport use the following directions:

  1. Head into town via the Russian Blvd.
  2. When you reach Monivong Blvd. (about 7 or 8KM) turn left.
  3. When you reach the Chroy Changva round-a-bout turn right and go over the Chroy Changva bridge.
  4. On the other side of the bridge – take the first right
  5. As soon as you turn right look to the end of the street and look up. There is a large (15 story) white building (apartment block) – we live behind this building. After turning right after the bridge, go straight until you get to the end of the road.
  6. Turn right again and then go straight again for about 200m – you will meet the end of the road and the river – there is a large metal fence between you and the river now.
  7. Turn left and follow the river.
  8. Our house is located on the river. Go straight along the river for about 800m.
  9. About 200m before our house you will go through a blockade created by two large round cement pipes. Go through these and continue straight. Our house is on the left.
  10. Call us if you get lost (012 832509) ;o)

Ba Srae Please note that we will be providing transportation to and from Ba Srae. I will involve an overnight stay. See the accommodation and transportation sections for details.

To get to Ba Srae – the location of the wedding – you will initially take the road to Takeo (National Highway 2) but before reaching Takeo you will turn left (east) to Preah Levear and then right (south) to Ba Srae. Use the following directions.

  1. Find the Independence Monument – the largest most central, best-known and easiest location to find in the middle of Phnom Penh
  2. Head south along Norodom Blvd.
  3. Keep on this road for about 10 km until you hit the Ta Khmao roundabout
    1. There will be a “fly-over” that you will get to after about 4 or 5 km – just keep heading south.
    2. At one point you will come to a statue that divides the road into a fork (I think the statue is Shiva – not sure). You should take the right-hand fork (you can’t take the left anyway)
    3. This is a one-way road that bends to the right and then slowly back around to the left.
    4. It eventually meets a bridge that goes over a river.
    5. Keep going straight until you hit a roundabout with a large monument in the middle. The monument is of a man crouching and holding something in his hand on one knee
  4. At the Ta Khmao roundabout take the first right
  5. Follow this road (National Highway 2) for about 10 km until you get to a major 4-way intersection. They are now constructing a large roundabout at this intersection – so you can’t miss it. Turn LEFT here.
  6. After turning left at the roundabout you will still be on National Highway 2. Go straight for about 40km then turn left at the only tarmac road that goes to the left.
    1. You will pass the turnoff to Phnom Tamao Zoo on the right after about 20km
    2. On the left after about 30km you will see a hill/mountain called Phnom Chisor in the distance.
    3. You will pass through a largish town (sorry don’t know the name) at about 32km (from the roundabout)
    4. After about 5km from the largish town you will see a turn-off to the left and on the corner will be a large faded map – keep going straight.
    5. After about 8 or 9 km from the largish town there is a tarmac road – it is the only tarmac road after the largish town. Turn left here.
  7. Follow this tarmac road for about 15 km to Preah Levear and then turn right (south) to Ba Srae
    1. The road is now tarmac all the way to Preah Levear
    2. Before you get to the Ba Srae turn-off there are the two guest houses where many people for the wedding will be staying.
    3. This road has beautiful scenery so enjoy the views.
    4. You will pass by the foot of Chisor Mountain (Phnom Chisor) after about 5 or 6 km
    5. The turn to Ba Srae is to the right (south) just before you go into Preah Levear town
  8. Follow this road for about 10km to Ba Srae.
    1. The condition of the road for this 10km stretch is good now. It is very wide but is only a dirt road. It has a lot of trucks going over it and sometimes it can be a major rut-infested adventure.
    2. We will be putting up signs so that you will know where to stop
    3. The house is about 2km past the Ba Srae market and is on the left.
    4. The house located about 300m from the main road.
  9. Good luck :o) !
